The Biomed Division is the new unit of LEITAT, that identifies new targets for oncology research, and searches innovative drugs for cancer treatment. This unit is also in charge of the coordination for the global technological offer directed to the bio and med sectors. R&D lines include the identification of new targets for oncology and the generation of NME (New Molecular Entities) to modulate them and eventually fully characterize its in vitro & in vivo profiles in order to deliver these innovative drugs ready for clinical phases. The Biotech Division is mainly focused in enzymes application for the substitution of the less efficient and environmentally unfriendly chemical processes with biotechnological ones. Enzymes application in industrial processes, in wastewater treatment and applied in the substitution of chemical processes. Enzyme immobilization. Antibacterial, antifungal, antimite, … materials, finishes and processes. Microencapsulation of active products. Sterilization processes. Biodegradable, biocompatible materials and plastics. Development of new polymers based on biomass monomers, new polymers charges with natural compound. Study and increase of the recyclability of polymers.
