Description
The UAB Research Park (PRUAB) is an organization founded by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), the Spanish Council for Research (CSIC) and the Institute for Agrofood Research (IRTA), whose aim is to stimulate and improve technology and knowledge transfer activities of its members, to promote entrepreneurship activity through new technology-based companies and, in general, to provide interaction between research and industry. Nowadays, the PRUAB has 25 research centres and institutes who work in these fields: • Material sciences and energy: nanotechnology, microelectronics,etc. • Information and Communication technologies • Environmental sciences • Human and Social sciences • Biomedicine and Biotechnology • Animal Health and Food Technology Some figures of the UAB Research Park • More than 5.000 researchers • 3.000 scientific publications yearly • 600 contracts with companies yearly • 50 patents yearly • 50 spin-off companies created • 25 free-standing research centres and institutes • 15 associated medical research centres • 5.000 m2 for business activities • 1.200 m2 for incubation area
