Paul Sabatier University in Toulouse will lead the project, and Biocat will be the main partner representing Catalonia (with collaboration from the Barcelona Science Park and the Autonomous University of Barcelona Research Park). The rest of the participants will be the Bordeaux National Scientific Research Center, the Lisbon Institute of Technology for Chemistry and Biology and the Valencia Community Foundation for Urban Innovation and the Knowledge Economy.
This project is part of the Community Initiative Program SUDOE Interreg III B, funded by the European Fund for Regional Development (ERDF), which promotes economic and social cohesion, as well as interregional cooperation in Europe.
The Interbio actions are divided in three work areas and will be developed over the 2009-2012 period.
The first area aims to promote interdisciplinary methods in biomedical research; facilitate preparation of and participation in transnational science colloquiums, workshops and conferences; support transversal projects; and promote science training and summer schools.
The second area focuses on creating a lasting network of technology platforms to share experiences and developing actions to share equipment and resources, as well as establishing specific actions for SMEs and startups.
Finally, the third area drives cooperation between research and industry through innovation, technology transfer and promoting and raising awareness of available technology.
