Boost4Health

The Boost4Health project of the European program Interreg North-West aims to support the international growth of SMEs in the life sciences and human and animal healthcare sectors by introducing their innovations to the European market. This alliance, formed by 11 leading organizations in terms of competitiveness and business innovation, including Biocat, offers practical and financial support to SMEs to improve cooperation between research and innovation actors in the healthcare sector in North-West Europe, to promote the transfer of technology to the market and to support the internationalization of small and medium-sized firms.

boost4health

Boost4Health offers financial support as well as training and advice to small and medium-sized firms that wish to explore their potential for international growth. To this end, Boost4Health is creating a strong and vibrant life sciences community in the North-West Europe region through cooperation between regional bodies, clinical validation facilities and SMEs on an online platform open to entrepreneurs. This will allow the life sciences sector in the North-West Europe region to exploit its full potential through knowledge and experience and thus position the region as a key hub in the life sciences sector.

Boost4Health enables SMEs to take their innovations to foreign markets from the Boost4Health regions:

Opportunities for SMEs:

To achieve their objectives, Boost4Health has launched the following actions:

Financial support to incentivize transnational collaboration

The project has earmarked €1,240,000 for SMEs, which will be offered through micro-financing for internationalization and validation activities and provided in the form of vouchers:

1. Travel vouchers (€500)

SMEs can apply for travel vouchers for trips to congresses, fairs, Boost4Health events or for travel to Boost4Health regions (for a technological mission) to visit experts and providers. SMEs can receive a maximum of two travel vouchers during the life of the Boost4Health project (up to 2019). Using a single voucher (maximum reimbursement of €500), various persons from the same SME can travel together for the same purpose.

2. Internationalization vouchers

To accelerate internationalization, Boost4Health issues two different types of vouchers:

  • Market internationalization voucher (up to €3,000) to explore a new market and,
  • Product validation voucher (up to €5,000) which may cover technical advice, creation of prototypes and presentation.

SMEs can receive a maximum of two market internationalization vouchers during the life of the Boost4Health project. Specifically, SMEs can receive a product validation voucher and a market experience voucher, or two market experience vouchers (for two different areas of experience, provided that they are complementary).

How to apply for vouchers?

To apply for a travel or internationalization voucher, visit the Boost4Health website and register as SME. If your company can provide services to innovative companies in the sector, you can register as a service provider.

The cut-off dates for internationalization vouchers are: September 30, 2017; January 15, March 31 and June 30, 2018. Regarding travel vouchers, you can apply from June to September 2017; from October 2017 to March 2017; and from April to September 2018.

Check here the Guidelines for Boost4Health vouchers applicants.

Matchmaking to promote international acceleration

SMEs will have the opportunity to expand their network of partners and contacts at international matchmaking/meeting events. These will be organized in collaboration with important healthcare and life sciences events in the partner regions, such as BIO-Europe, Medica, Nordic Life Sciences and BIO-Europe Spring.

To keep up to date with these events, you can subscribe to Biocat’s email newsletter.

Marketplace - Database of service providers

This is an online database where SMEs can discover and contact service providers to validate their products, get expert assessments and break into international markets, depending on their needs. The services on offer through the website may be subsidized with the internationalization vouchers: market access and product validation.

In this database you can search for external service providers filtering for solution, sector of activity, region or type of provider.

Companies that can provide services to innovative SMEs in the sector, can register as a service provider and get customers from the Boost4Health regions.
