Barcelona, 1 June 2016.- A total of 42 Catalan companies and organizations (5 more than last year) will be participating in BIO Convention 2016, the top global biotechnology fair, held this year in San Francisco (United States) from 6 to 9 June. Barcelona, 19 May 2016.- This Thursday, Biocat, the organization that coordinates and promotes the healthcare and life sciences sector in Catalonia, presented the 2015 Biocat Report, which covers the status of the sector between 2013 and 2015. Barcelona, April 5, 2016.- 10 Catalan companies will be participating until Friday in a trade mission to Boston in the state of Massachusetts in the United States to look for business opportunities in digital health and big data applied to life sciences. Barcelona, 22 December 2015.- The Biocat Board of Trustees, presided over by Catalan Minister of Health Boi Ruiz, has appointed Dr. Albert Barberà the new CEO of the organization. Barberà, who until now has served as director of the Girona Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBGi), will take over in January for Dra. Montserrat Vendrell, who was CEO of Biocat from 2007 through September of this year when she took the reigns of the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST).
