Connect, partner and innovate was the motto of the BIO International Convention 2012 which celebrated its twentieth edition in Boston (Massachusetts, USA) from 18th to 21st June 2012. This BIO brought together more than 16,500 delegates from 65 countries, 2,000 exhibitors, 2,900 companies and 25,291 partnering meetings. Biocat, like in the previous five editions, coordinated the participation of the Catalan delegation which was formed by 50 companies and 22 organizations from the biotechnology and biomedical sector.
The Spanish pavilion, within which Catalonia represented more than 60%, was the largest international pavilion ahead of countries such as Brazil, China, India and Russia. It consisted of 54 company booths: 32 of them were from the BioRegion of Catalonia; 8 from Andalucía BioRegión; 7 from BioBasque, and the 7 more from the other autonomous communities.
Biocat had a distinctive space in the center of the pavilion (booth 437) with 18 Catalan companies and 22 research and support institutions. The Catalan delegation had an unprecedented institutional support through the presence of the President of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Artur Mas; the Minister of Economy and Knowledge, Andreu Mas-Colell; the Minister of Health, Boi Ruiz; and other government representatives.
