ACC1Ó is organizing a mission to Santa Catarina (Brazil), from 7 to 11 May 2012, in order to explore the opportunities this State offers for Catalan companies and institutions from the biotechnology, health, agrifood technology, energy and environment sectors, among others. This trip is the logical continuance of the visit Barcelona received from Governor João Raimundo Colombo and Secretaries of State for Santa Catarina last December, when the Governments of Catalonia and Santa Catarina signed an agreement to foster trade relations.

The program includes work sessions with the Federation of Industries in the State of Santa Catarina (FIESC) and the Association for Technology Companies (ACATE), as well as B2B meetings between Brazilian and Catalan companies.
Sectors with opportunities
Santa Catarina, in southern Brazil, has a population similar to that of Catalonia (6.5 million inhabitants), a total surface area three times that of Catalonia and the sixth largest GDP in Brazil. With the highest Human Development Index in Brazil, apart from Brasilia, this State has a strong economic and cultural identity and enjoys a diversified economy made up of a strong fabric of family-run SMEs. The State also has a high index of exports and a strong vocation in innovation and technology.
