Barcelona will host the second edition of the Transbio Emergence Forum on 9, 10 and 11 April. After the first forum in Montpellier held 25 to 27 September 2013, this partnering meeting is once again being organized by the Transbio project in order to foster scientific and business collaboration and public-private partnerships in human health and agrifood innovation.

The aim of this forum is clear: to help researchers, companies and technology platforms from Spain, France and Portugal network in order to promote transnational collaboration projects in the field of biotechnology and health. Between 150 and 200 participants are expected to attend, up from the 100 at the Montpellier edition.

The event will focus on two key focal points. On one hand, human health, specifically Health, ageing and disease and e-Health. Based on these guides, participants will delve deeper into issues like prevention, biomarkers and visualizing health data digitally in order to improve diagnosis and treatment. The other focal point is agrifood innovation, which is divided into Food and health and Innovation to improve productivity and sustainability, two topics that will generate discussion on cardiovascular treatment, obesity, innovation in the global food chain and optimizing food processing.

Paul Sabatier University in Toulouse is the member leading the event. There are 9 beneficiary partners, including Biocat as well as the University of Santiago de Compostela and the National Center for Scientific Research in Aquitania, among others. Furthermore, 27 other partners make up a wide-reaching network in southwest Europe. Participants from Catalonia are: the Barcelona Science Park (PCB), CataloniaBio and the UAB Research Park (PRUAB).
