The Spanish Institute of Foreign Trade (ICEX) has opened the call for applications to be part of the official Spanish pavilion at the 2011 BIO convention (Biotechnology Industry Organization), which will be held from 27 to 30 June at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center (USA).

Participation of companies and organizations in this pavilion is coordinated exclusively through the bioregions, thus Biocat is coordinating in participation of Catalan companies and organizations. As each year, the agreement reached by Biocat, ICEX, Genoma España and Asebio will allow Catalan companies and organizations to attend the convention under the BioRegion of Catalonia umbrella and give them access to all the grants offered by different institutions.

In order to participate, organizations must fill out this form and send it to ICEX and Biocat (events@biocat.cat) before 11 January 2011.

  • Holds general call for applications.

  • Subsidizes stand design and construction and transport of materials.

The final price for each exhibitor is 1,600 euros, to be paid to ICEX in two installments: the first (50% of the total) is due upon registration, before 11 January 2011. The ICEX will not accept any registrations after this date.

The grants will be paid after all corresponding documentation is received. Documents should be sent as attachments by email to José María Toro (jmtoro@gen-es.org) or by post.

At BIO Chicago 2010, Catalonia consolidated its leadership in the national biotechnology and biomedicine sector, accounting for more than half of the total floor space and business representation in the Spanish pavilion, which occupied 1,000 square meters, more than countries like France, Canada and Germany. The Catalan delegation was made up of more than 90 professionals from 31 companies and 15 institutions.
