Next 7th to 9th February 2008 the Catalan biotechnology sector has been invited by the Asian Federation of Biotechnological Associations to participate in BioAsia 2008 in Hyderabad, India. The Catalan biocluster and all its actors will be present in this trade show thanks to Biocat diffusion actions as Catalonia's booth coordinator and as organizer of the Catalan delegation travelling to India.The delegation, headed by Manel Balcells, Biocat President, will count with the participation of some sector-related Catalan organizations which will be visiting the Genome Valley scientific park and its companies. Hyderabad is considered India's knowledge city and Genome Valley is one of its main competitiveness centres. Barcelona City Council's Department of Economic Promotion, Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB), Barcelona Science Park (PCB), EuroScience Open Forum and the companies Salvat Biotech and Esteve are some of the Catalan organizations travelling to India.
Catalonia and India Biotech Association (AIBA) signed and agreement in 2007 where Catalonia accepted to be AIBA honour guest at BioAsia 2008. Biocat will coordinate the Catalan pavilion, which has the objective of providing information on Catalan research institutions and biotechnological companies not travelling to India.
During the trade show there is a meeting scheduled between Catalan participants and the main biotechnological companies and representatives of other competitive organizations in the trade show in order to explore possible ways of partnering and collaboration.
