Dutch venture capital company LSP VC, one of the largest and most important investment firms in the world specializing in the life sciences, visited Barcelona on 31 March to meet with Catalan biotechnology and investment companies. The aim of the meeting was to look into the possibility of participating in upcoming rounds of funding for various companies.

Biocat, as a cooperation stakeholder for the sector that regularly meets with foreign companies and delegations interested in doing business with Catalan companies, put the companies in touch with the two executives from LSP who came to Barcelona, Felice van Weegen and Vincent Brichard. Six meetings were held so that the executives could get to know the stakeholders first hand.

After the experience, LSP confirmed the high quality of the projects analyzed and said they are open to the possibility of continuing the analysis process over the coming months, said Biocat Head of Entrepreneurship and Business Growth Carlos Lurigados. Moreover, the executives had the chance to learn about Biocat, as the driving force behind the BioRegion of Catalonia, and the association of health and life sciences companies CataloniaBio.

With 25 years of experience in the sector, LSP VC has focused on innovation in drugs, medical devices and diagnostics above all in Europe and the United States. Since it began, the firm has raised more than €1 billion and has helped fund more than 120 companies as the lead investor or a member of the board.
