Catalonia gets off to a running start with new science facilities and infrastructures

2023 kicked off with a much-awaited announcement: the agreement to expand the Hospital Clinic Campus to Barcelona’s Diagonal area and create a great hub of knowledge in health. In addition to this project, many other new strategic initiatives, facilities and infrastructures kicked off in 2022 to bolster Catalonia’s strategic international positioning in health research, technology and innovation.


Meritxell Teixidó

PhD in the Science of Peptides and Genetic Algorithms from the Universitat de Barcelona (UB), where she also did a degree in Chemistry and a Master in Organic Chemistry and Peptide Science. In July 2020, she set up Gate2Brain after working as an associate research scientist at IRB Barcelona for over 14 years.

Industrial engineer. In 2020, she took part in the Biocat d·Health Barcelona program and set up Heecap with Laura Lizama. She currently combines her passion for this startup with her job in the Innovation Department at Hospital Sant Joan de Déu.
