The movie theater Phenomena, the UOC and Biocat organize the audiovisual cycle 'Cinema, Science and Future' throughout the month of November, coinciding with the 22nd Science Week in Catalonia. After each session, it will be a debate in which film critics and scientists specialized in the subject will participate, with the aim of generating an open debate with viewers.
'Demon Seed' (Donald Cammell, 1977) is about the spin that artificial intelligence can take when a computer tries to experience human desires. The subsequent debate on the film will be directed by the director of the Sitges festival Ángel Sala and the expert in synthetic biology Ricard Solé (UPF).
The 22nd Science Week, an initiative coordinated by the Fundació Catalana per a la Recerca i la Innovació, takes place in Catalonia from November 10 to 19. Throughout the week, there will be a whole host of scientific dissemination activities such as open days, exhibitions, talks, games, scientific workshops... This year's theme is sustainable tourism, on the occasion of the celebration of the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development promoted by the United Nations.
