BIO-Europe Spring (BES), the premier springtime partnering conference which takes place in Europe and every year attracts during three days international biotech, pharma and financial professionals, returned to Barcelona in 20-22 March 2017, following the success of the editions held in 2010 and 2013. This edition was organized by EBD Group, with the collaboration of Biocat and ACCIÓ leading the Host Committee.
The 2017 edition brought together more than 2,500 delegates from 1,440 companies from 58 countries. The tradeshow set a record in Catalan presence: 110 companies and institutions and 195 delegates.
BIO-Europe Spring is the main springtime partnering conference of the sector and attracts every year (for three days) the main biotech, pharma and financial leaders and emerging companies. Barcelona, where the fair was held in 2010 and 2013, was the base again of the 2017 edition. The congress was an excellent opportunity to further strengthen the strategic positioning of Catalonia and Barcelona as a leading center of international business in the health and life sciences.
Attendees had three days to hold private 30 minutes-meetings with other business executives and international developers, with the possibility to keep up to 20 meetings / day. The BioRegion of Catalonia had a booth at the fair of 56 m2. As previous editions, Biocat coordinated the Catalan delegation. A total of 195 delegates from 110 Catalan companies and entities participated in the fair, that represented 71.8% of the total Spanish companies. Eight of them made a presentation of their company: Almirall, Chemotargets, Esteve, Gebro Pharma, Laboratorios Rubió, Minoryx Therapeutics, Oryzon Genomics and Solti.
The tradeshow counted with 65 exhibitors, 11 of them catalan companies and institutions: Almirall, BCN Peptides, Esteve, Ferrer in Code, Gebro Pharma, GP Pharm, Laboratorios Rubió, Mind the Byte, Oryzon Genomics, Zeclínics and Biocat.

BIO-Europe Spring 2017 was organized by EBD Group —a firm specialized in partnering between key players in life sciences sector worldwide— with the collaboration of Biocat and ACCIÓ as a Host Committee. Although one-to-one meetings were the highlight of the event, it also featured workshops and company presentations about different topics like business development and enterpreneurship or R&D. The conference was an excellent opportunity for companies and organizations to identify business opportunities and scout new partners.
