Bio€quity 2019, the most important biopharmaceutical investor conference in Europe, took place in Barcelona for the first time on May 20-21, 2019.
Organized by BioCentury and EBD Group is the seminal industry event for financial dealmakers looking for investor-validated life science companies positioning themselves to attract capital, and for pharmaceutical licensing professionals to assess top prospects.

Bio€quity Europe each year brings together the leading investors dedicated to the European biopharmaceutical industry. 2019 edition took place for the first time in Barcelona on May 20 and 21 thanks to the initiative of the Regional Host Committee, formed by Biocat, Ysios Capital, Catalonia Trade & Investment and CataloniaBio & HealthTech.

The event is geared towards specialist life-science investors who are looking for new business opportunities through biopharmaceutical licensing agreements and is organized by BioCentury and EBD Group.
In past editions, Bio€quity Europe has showcased more than 800 leading European companies to thousands of investment and business developers professionals in the biopharmaceutical area.
The organizers selected Barcelona for its 20th annual event. "Barcelona has all of the key ingredients for a vibrant life sciences ecosystem –highlight the organizers – Catalonia has a solid academic science, a risk-taking, entrepreneurial culture and a growing pool of venture capital, all of which are essential to establishing, fostering and growing life science innovators”.
In this edition, about 600 delegates from more than 360 companies and 26 countries met in Barcelona during the last edition held in 2019. More than 2,000 partnering meetings were celebrated.
In addition to partnering meetings, the Bio€quity Europe 2019 program included plenary sessions, round tables, and workshops. Some of these sessions have representation from the BioRegion of Catalonia.
On Sunday, May 19 there was a welcome reception for attendees from 7:00 pm to 9:00pm at the Crowne Plaza Fira Center Hotel (Av. De Rius i Taulet, 1, 3, 08004 Barcelona).
The welcome ceremony was on Monday, May 20 from 9:00 to 9:25am and was attended by the organizers, BioCentury and EBD, Bio International Convention and Biocat.
Likewise, on May 20 at 3:00pm, the "Scaling Up Catalonia" session took place, where Jordi Naval, CEO of Biocat, explained why investing in the BioRegion of Catalonia is a good idea. Some companies from the BioRegion, such as Aniling, GlyCardial Diagnostics, IDP Pharma, VCN Biosciences and Zeclinics, and from Spain Allinky Biopharma, presented their success stories.
In the evening, the host committee of BioEquity hosted the Networking Reception and Dinner at Palau de Pedralbes from 7:00pm to 10:30pm. The Hble. Counselor Maria Àngels Chacón and the Chief Executive Officer of ACCIÓ Mr. Joan Romero participated at the reception.
On May 21 from 1:15pm to 2:45pm, a selection of companies and projects in the pre-seed phase presented in front of a panel of investing judges in two parallel sessions "Pre-seed Showcase". 12 companies and Catalan projects participated: ADmit Therapeutics, AngioTheraGnostics, Avida Biotech, Biointaxis, Cebiotex, Gate2Brain, Iproteos,Nanoligent, Ona Therapeutics, Purpose Biotherapeutics, Remab Therapeutics, and Valis Pharma (UB).
During Bio€quity 2019, Ability Pharmaceuticals, AELIX Therapeutics, IDIBELL, Minoryx Therapeutics, Oryzon Genomics and Senolytic Therapeutics.
In parallel to Bio€quity Europe 2019, two satellite events took place. On the one hand, Biocat collaborates in the Labiotech Refresh #15, a meeting on biotechnology organized by Labiotech that took place on May 21 at 5:30pm at Movistar Centre.
On the other hand, Alira Health, Regional Host Gold Sponsor of Bio€quity 2019, organized on May 21 at 4:30pm the session Boston: the hub of success in the U.S. healthcare market.
