2010 Day of the Entrepreneur, driven by the Barcelona City Council: more business-focused and more international
The ninth annual Day of the Entrepreneur, which will be held on 16 and 17 June, has taken a leap forward in order to become the benchmark event for entrepreneurial initiative and business growth in Catalonia.
Together with HiT Barcelona, the EmprendedorXXI program and the Tecnio Forum, Day of the Entrepreneur is one of the not-to-be-missed events for Catalan entrepreneurs during Entrepreneurship and Innovation Week (bizbarcelona).
New this year, the event will be held at the Barcelona Fairgrounds –in a 24,000-square-meter space- featuring a non-stop agenda with conferences and workshops that cover new topics like franchising, funding and business acceleration, in addition to the habitual topics related to business creation, management and growth.
Round table Collaborative innovation or sharing to be more competitive
Biocat is organizing a round table entitled Collaborative innovation or sharing to be more competitive, to be held 16 June at 3.30 pm, as part of the growth sessions. Important technological challenges require a multidisciplinary approach as well as costly and complex R&D processes. In order to obtain competitive solutions, in the biomedicine field it is essential for companies and research centers to carry out joint projects with bodies that are complementary in field, typology and abilities. These topics will be discussed during the round table by Jaume Mir, CEO of Arquebio; Francesc Mitjans, Biomed Division Manager at Leitat Technological Center; Jordi Beleta, director of the Discovery Strategy and Alliances Department at Almirall; and Joan Comella, director of the Vall d’Hebron University Hospital Research Institute. The table will be moderated by the CEO of Biocat, Montserrat Vendrell.
Research and healthcare professionals will also be interested in other round tables like Help To Incorporate Talent In Your Company, by Cristina Costa from Talència; Protection and Commercialization Of Technology, with Lurdes Jordi from the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation and Lídia Casas from the University of Barcelona Patents Center; and Innovate and Become An Entrepreneur Within The Healthcare Sector, with Lluís Pareras from the Barcelona Medical Association.
This year’s Day of the Entrepreneur event will focus on networking and attracting international entrepreneurial talent, with a packed agenda in both areas, and introduces for the first time the Entrepreneurs’ Fair, an area where companies and public and private bodies can offer their products and services for entrepreneurial initiatives and business growth.
The 2009 figures demonstrate this event’s success, which is driven by the Barcelona City Council through Barcelona Activa: 6,525 entrepreneurs, 73 organizations, 17 international networks, 335 speakers and 1,204 business relationships.
