Barcelona MAR Health Park kicks off first Innovation Contest
The deadline to submit ideas is 16 January 2015
With the aim of fostering a culture of innovation, integration and participation, the Barcelona MAR Health Park (PSMAR) has launched its First Innovation Contest, with support from pharmaceutical company Roche.
This initiative falls under the framework of the Hospital del Mar Medical Research Institute (IMIM), accredited by the government (ISCIII) as a Health Research Institute, and aims to attract two types of initiatives: those that substantially improve the quality of healthcare, training or research, and those that cover research results that are or could be patented or developed by the industry.
As an integrative action, the contest aims to promote participation, so the contest is open to professionals at PSMAR, as well as users, patients and relatives.
After proposals have been submitted, by 16 January 2015 using this form, the contest will have three stages. First, the PSMAR Innovation Group will evaluate the initiatives in February and select a maximum of 10 finalists. Then, between February and July, participants will have to draft a technical report with a plan to develop or implement the idea, with support from innovation experts. Finally, in July participants will present their technical reports to the Innovation Group, which will evaluate them and select the winners.
They will give out three prizes of €3,000 each: one to the best idea from users, one to the best innovative idea from professionals, and one to the best idea resulting from transnational research. The awards will be given out in September.
