"China and Europe are complementary. You have good projects, good technology, top-notch talent…things we need," explained consultant Gao Ronghui during his talk Challenges, opportunities and landing in the Chinese market on 25 January in Barcelona. "Next year we will become the second largest pharmaceutical market in the world. And I don’t think this will slow down in the coming five years," commented the British-educated Chinese expert.
After the workshop on the Chinese life sciences market, which was attended by some fifty executives and representatives from companies in the BioRegion of Catalonia, Biocat is now organizing a trade mission to China from 26 to 31 May 2013. The aim is to get a first-hand look at the many business opportunities available in this country and foster collaboration between Catalan and Chinese companies.
Companies from Catalonia interested in participating will do so with the delegation made up of representatives from the bioXclusters project and executives from companies in Bavaria, Piedmont and Rhône-Alpes, some of the leading European bioregions in the life sciences. This mission offers:
- Top-notch visits to get a first-hand look at some of the most important science and technology parks (Shanghai Juke Biotech Park, Suzhou Institute of Nanotech and Nanobionics, Shanghai BioBay and ZhangJian HighTech Park), the RuiJin university hospital (leader in research in the Shanghai area), as well as other institutions in the sector.
- Sino-Euro Bio-Partnering (SEBP) event in Shanghai organized by G-Med Consulting, headed up by Gao Ronghui. Catalan companies are eligible for a special rate of €90 (the standard rate is €150), alongside other bioclusters and companies from around Europe and China. They can also give a business presentation. The event features a track devoted to funding and a networking dinner.
- BIO-Forum Shanghai 2013: the 15th Shanghai International Forum on Biotechnology & Pharmaceutical Industry (BIO-Forum) is one of the benchmark events in the sector and attracts some 600 delegates from around the world. It will focus on analyzing and identifying cooperation opportunities, which makes it important to foster the presence of Catalan and European companies. The program includes interesting Satellite Meetings like the International Partnering Conference for Medical Technology Innovation and Start-up Forum (MDstartup 2013), Bio-VC 2013 and Fosun Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd (to acquire licenses for products and technology in therapeutic areas like diabetes, hepatitis, gynecology, malaria, cancer, etc.).
- Personalized agendas: ACC1Ó, through their office in Shanghai, offers the opportunity to create a personalized agenda for each company.
More information and prices per person are available in the agenda of visits.
