Carlos Lurigados presents BioEmprenedorXXI and d·HEALTH at BioForum
The event in Poland aims to promote the life sciences sector in Central and Eastern Europe

Carlos Lurigados, Biocat Head of Entrepreneurship and Business Growth, participated in the 13th edition of BioForum, an event held in Poland to highlight the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and veterinary sectors in Central and Eastern Europe. Lurigados presented Biocat and the BioEmprenedorXXI and d·HEALTH programs to representatives of companies and support institutions. Marc Martinell, co-founder and CEO of Catalan company Minoryx, explained his experience as a participant in the BioemprenedorXXI program.
BioForum 2014, held 28 and 29 May, aims to promote the life sciences market throughout the region of Central and Eastern Europe in order foster cooperation and internationalization. It brought together approximately 150 people from the sciences and business in an open networking and partnership space. Some of the most noteworthy speakers at the event included G. Steven Burrill, CEO of Burrill and Company, who gave a keynote speech “Opportunities and threats of the CEE region in the scope of the global biobusiness”; and Ada Yonath, 2009 Nobel Laureate for her studies on the structure and function of the ribosome.
Biocat participated in the BioForum under the collaboration framework established in the ETTBio project (Effective Technology Transfer in Biotechnology). This initiative focuses on identifying and sharing best practices related with effective technology transfer in the field of biotechnology. In addition to Biocat, the other members are: Technische Universität Dresden (leader partner), the city of Dresden, Imperial College Business School, Regional Development Agency in Ostrava, la Vrije Universiteit in Brussels, the Center for Genomic Regulation (CRG), the city of Warsaw, the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology and the city of Tartu.
