Three of the five Chamber 2011 Awards were given to companies from the BioRegion of Catalonia. These awards are granted by the Terrassa Chamber of Commerce and Industry each year to people, projects for the future and companies that help foster social and economic development in the district.

Deltalab, located in Rubí (Barcelona), and the Leitat Technology Center, from Terrassa (Barcelona), were recognized for their efforts to drive innovation, research and development. Deltalab manufactures and markets plastic hygiene and hospital-safety material for laboratories and the pharmaceutical, agrifood and chemical industries. The company has a proven history of applying quality innovation policies. The Leitat Technology Center, founded in 1906 and devoted to industrial innovation, research, and development, was recognized for its outstanding efforts to transform new technology challenges into economic and social value. The center’s new corporate headquarters, in Parc Orbital 40, is an ideal location to drive creativity in all of their projects.

Telstar Technologies, also from Terrassa (Barcelona), received the award for training and knowledge, for its annual training plan covering 236 workers and offering 6,853 training hours in 220 courses. Telstar designs, manufactures and markets high-technology equipment for industrial use, particularly in the health sector.

The Chamber Awards are open to all companies located in one of the 12 municipalities in the Terrassa district. Winners are selected through a voting process, carried out by a panel of judges made up of prestigious figures with direct links to the institutions, politics, business and journalism.

The awards ceremony, held on 20 June, was presided over by President of the Government of Catalonia Artur Mas, and brought together some five hundred representatives from the Catalan economic, business, political and institutional fabric.
