Healthbox, a company incubated at venture capital firm and business incubator Sandbox Industries of Chicago (United States) in 2012, has announced they will launch the second European edition of their start-up accelerator program this May. For 4 months, this intensive program joins a group of entrepreneurs from the innovative medical technology arena —selected previously— with a network of mentors, while at the same time providing a collaborative work space, strategic guidance to boost their market presence and attract clients, and $50,000 in seed capital.
Healthbox has offices in Chicago, Boston and London. In just one year, they have graduated 27 innovative companies, as the program aims to find, nurture and invest in entrepreneurs and business ideas that have a significant impact on the healthcare arena.
"The accelerator model is going to be a catalyst for change, because the industry is looking for ways to innovate and new models are emerging. We are in a good position to serve the need," founder and CEO of Healthbox, Nina Nashif, told Upstart Business Journal. Nashif has recently been recognized as the 2013 Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.
In exchange, the Healthbox partners, which include renowned investors, suppliers, businesspeople and other stakeholders in the healthcare sector, receive a share in each company and knowledge on healthcare innovation.
The deadline for applications to participate in the program is 14 April 2013.
