Biotechnology group InKemia IUCT Group, based in Mollet del Vallès (Barcelona), is one of the 40 companies representing Spain at the European Business Awards 2013-2014, which recognize excellence and innovation in the European Union. These companies were chosen by a panel of judges based on standards of good practices. In November, a second round of the competition will begin with voting, in which the public can also participate, to choose the champions in each of the 31 countries and, from these, the European champion will be chosen in April 2014.

Companies from any sector of industry, multinationals and SMEs, can participate in the European Business Awards free of charge. The program aims to present examples for the business community to follow and collect case studies and contents for learning.

Josep Castells, CEO of InKemia, celebrated this milestone and recognized that the European Business Awards "are widely recognized as a showcase for the most dynamic companies in Europe."

InKemia IUCT Group has been carrying out R&D in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries for the past 15 years and has been publicly traded on the Alternative Stock Market (MAB) since late December. Moreover, the Catalan group of biotechnology and high-technology SMEs has demonstrated its stable growth with the recent opening of an affiliate in Colombia, a capital increase of €2.5 millions and the fact that they were chosen by the Spanish stock market as a candidate to the European Commission’s European Small & Midcap Awards.

In the previous edition of the European Business Awards, four companies from the BioRegion of Catalonia —AB-Biotics, Anaxomics, Grifols and AstraZeneca (with an affiliate in Barcelona)— reached the final round.
