Biocat helps promote first PCB Corporate Commuting Plan for more sustainable mobility
The initiative, led by the Barcelona Science Park and promoted with participation from Biocat, IRB Barcelona, IBEC and CCiTUB, will encourage more efficient and lower impact commuting over the next three years.

Biocat is one of the organizations promoting the first Barcelona Science Park (PCB) Corporate Commuting Plan, an initiative that aims to improve commuting and reduce the environmental impact of daily travel to the campus.
The plan, implemented in conjunction with the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona), Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC), Scientific and Technological Centers of the University of Barcelona (CCiTUB) and PCB, covers nearly 1,200 people, approximately 35% of the Park’s community.
Planned actions include promoting active mobility and sustainable transportation, with improvements to bicycle accessibility, new bike parking, initiatives to encourage biking and electric vehicles, and awareness actions to make sure both current staff and new hires are aware of the options available.
The plan also promotes more rational use of private vehicles, encouraging lower impact options and providing tools for carpooling. Plus, it applies sustainability criteria to professional travel for conferences and other work activities.
This initiative falls under Decree 132/2024 and reflects the participating organizations’ commitment to reducing pollution and incorporating more sustainable mobility policies in the research and innovation environment.
For Biocat, participation in this project is in line with its commitment to promoting initiatives that help make Catalonia’s life sciences and healthcare ecosystem more sustainable and responsible.
