On 4 December, Biocat, in collaboration with the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, is organising an unprecedented gathering: the BioRegion Forum, where, for the first time, all stakeholders directly linked to biotechnology and biomedicine in Catalonia will come together, from companies to research centres, investors, universities, sectoral organisations, service providers and support entities.

The setting will be exceptional: Barcelona’s Casa de Llotja de Mar. And the goal: to consolidate the current and future model of the Catalan biocluster and boost its growth and visibility in the national, European and international markets. All this by fostering knowledge and the exchange of experiences, establishing synergies among its members, showcasing services and products, identifying common needs, proposing avenues for improvement and defining the sector’s future challenges.

At Biocat, we have prepared a cross-cutting, multidisciplinary and innovative programme, featuring talks by key experts such as Dr Stig Jørgensen, current director of Medicon Valley (Denmark). The round tables will address some of the sector’s hottest topics: research as a business, biotechnology funding, professional training, and the role of communication as a value strategy. There will also be a poster exhibition area, where more than one hundred organisations will participate in six main categories: biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical technologies, technology offering, service companies and sector support entities.

It is also worth highlighting the participation of Biocat’s partners in the ‘Southern European Biocluster’ project from Toulouse, Montpellier, Bordeaux and the Balearic Islands, who will have the opportunity to get to know the members of the BioRegion of Catalonia and their activities in order to meet the collaboration goals of this working network.
