BIOMAN4R2
BIOMAN4R2 was a European project driven by a consortium of Euroclusters aimed at strengthening the resilience, sustainability, and competitiveness of SMEs in the biomanufacturing and medical technologies sectors. Biocat participated as a partner to connect stakeholders from the Catalan ecosystem with collaboration, funding, and growth opportunities at the European level.

Boosting the resilience and competitiveness of the biomanufacturing and medtech sector in Europe
The BIOMAN4R2 project (BioManufacturing Eurocluster for Recovery and Resilience in the EU), funded by the European Union’s Single Market Programme, aimed to strengthen the resilience, sustainability, and competitiveness of the biomanufacturing and medical technologies (medtech) sector in Europe. Through the creation of a Eurocluster, the project fostered collaboration among SMEs, investors, research centers, clinical organizations, and other key stakeholders in the sector.
Project duration: September 2022 – December 2024
During the project, several key objectives were achieved, including:
Identifying the resilience needs of the biomanufacturing and medtech sector through the organization of meetings and focus groups with industry stakeholders.
Mapping key actors in the sector at the European level, based on joint analysis carried out by the project partners.
Creating a digital matchmaking platform to facilitate collaborations, promote opportunities, and publish calls for voucher applications aimed at companies in the sector. BioRegion startups such as Gate2Brain and Time is Brain benefited from this support.
Providing direct funding to companies to strengthen their activity and competitiveness in the European biomanufacturing and medtech market.
Although the project has reached its final phase, the following future steps have been outlined:
Deploying the SME support program (FSTP) through new vouchers aimed at encouraging collaborative projects between SMEs and key stakeholders.
Improving and maintaining the digital matchmaking platform, expanding its functionalities to attract more participants and increase its usage.
Evaluating the project’s impact in terms of generated collaborations, SME scalability, and overall strengthening of the sector at the European level.
