Towards more efficient and accessible personalised medicine in Europe
The PRECISEU project (PeRsonalised medicine Empowerment Connecting Innovation ecoSystems across EUrope), funded by the Horizon Europe programme, aims to improve the efficiency of health innovation ecosystems across Europe. It does so by promoting collaboration among regions and key stakeholders such as scientists, entrepreneurs, and innovation networks to accelerate the adoption of personalised medicine and the implementation of disruptive health technologies.
There is a significant gap between leading and emerging innovation regions, with direct impacts on the economy, quality of life, and healthcare equity. PRECISEU was created with the aim of reducing this fragmentation by strengthening connections between regional ecosystems and fostering the exchange of innovative practices and solutions. The project will run for 60 months, allowing for sustained long-term work to ensure real and replicable results.
The main objectives of the project are:
To harness the potential of health data to improve treatments and develop personalised solutions by creating a data environment that is accessible and useful for researchers, professionals, and patients.
To facilitate the development and access to ATMPs (Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products), enabling patients to benefit more quickly from new therapies.
To streamline access to the European market for innovations in personalised medicine, with validation and adoption mechanisms that are efficient within healthcare systems.
To establish a common European model for personalised medicine, with shared policies, regulations, and practices among EU member states.
Through these actions, PRECISEU will contribute to a more efficient, cohesive, and equitable healthcare system, with the capacity to respond to the specific needs of each region and to advance toward a digital and sustainable transformation of Europe’s health systems.
