From September 8 to 10, Barcelona will become an international meeting point for healthcare thanks to the Deep Dive Days of the European project Clusters4Health, organized by Biocat.

The agenda, designed to address Ukraine’s current challenges, includes specialized sessions on emergency systems and training, as well as visits to leading healthcare centers. Among these activities, a highlight will be the open session on September 9 at 5:30 pm at Pier07, aimed at startups and BioRegion organizations seeking to connect with Ukrainian participants.

About the Clusters4Health project

Clusters4Health is a project funded by the European Union that aims to foster international cooperation among healthcare clusters and innovation ecosystems. Since 2023, it has promoted workshops, missions and joint activities in several European countries to address strategic challenges, generate synergies, and facilitate knowledge transfer.

The consortium is made up of organizations from Spain, Germany, Poland, Lithuania and Ukraine, where the project contributes to strengthening the medical system and its future integration into the European single market.

Open networking session: an opportunity for the BioRegion

Within the framework of the Deep Dive Days, the most noteworthy event for the Catalan ecosystem will take place on the evening of Tuesday, September 9 at Pier07. The program will include two main activities: a networking session bringing together startups and BioRegion of Catalonia organizations alongside participants in the CRAASH Barcelona program, and a matchmaking session with Clusters4Health project partners to explore potential international collaborations. Attendance is free and no prior registration is required, so anyone interested can join throughout the day.

According to Biocat Strategic Foresight and International Relations Director Montse Daban, “This event is a great opportunity to connect the BioRegion with Ukrainian professionals facing critical reconstruction challenges. We want to facilitate collaborations that will strengthen both our ecosystem and the future of Ukraine’s healthcare system within Europe.”

International program: working sessions and visits

The Deep Dive Days will offer international participants a combination of working sessions and practical activities designed to promote knowledge exchange and foster synergies. These include workshops and specialized training on cluster strategies, European policies, and international cooperation models, with the goal of improving the management and impact of healthcare ecosystems.

There will also be innovation activities like ideathons to explore creative solutions to healthcare challenges, with startups and experienced professionals from different countries. Visits to leading healthcare centers, such as the Catalonia Emergency Medical System (SEM), Hospital Joan XXIII in Tarragona, and Institut Guttmann, will give participants the chance to learn about healthcare management and innovation models and exchange best practices.

The event will conclude with a closing session to establish the next steps in the Clusters4Health project, reinforcing international exchange and commitment to healthcare cooperation.
