Biocat and Barcelona Health Hub, a private association that promotes digital health knowledge, dissemination and innovation in the capital of Catalonia, have signed a partnership agreement to promote the digital health ecosystem in Catalonia. The two organizations want to enhance the opportunities created around technical and scientific advances, as well as improve the digital health transfer in the sector.

Thus, Biocat is joining one of the leading tech hubs that emerged in the city in recent years as an “ecosystem partner” to promote and facilitate activities particularly related to digital health, one of the sectors with the most potential for growth in the BioRegion, as stated in the BioRegion 2020 Report.

The life sciences and healthcare ecosystem in Catalonia has undergone a major acceleration in startups in this subsector in the past ten years, as well as the amount of investment raised. By the close of the Report in 2020, investment had multiplied x2.6 since 2018, going from €13.1M to €34.5M in 2020, making it the subsector that is growing at the quickest rate.

Forthcoming activities to keep abreast of digital health

This April, the Barcelona Health Hub is organizing two events you can't miss: on April 15 the first #BHHSummit will be held for Spanish-speaking countries, with debates on the evolution of remote medicine in recent months. The event, which will be held in hybrid format, will feature the participation of prominent international speakers. You can register free of charge on its website.

We also recommend the upcoming edition of the monthly gathering #BHHSeries, scheduled for April 28. This time, the topic being addressed is the efficiency of hospital processes in the operating room. The program is not yet available, but registration is already open.
