Biocat and the Spanish Federation of Healthcare Technology Companies (Fenin) –made up of more than 500 companies– have signed a collaboration agreement to analyze, improve and promote training and awareness-raising programs in the innovative healthcare technology (or medical technology) field in Catalonia.

"This agreement is a real breakthrough in offering Fenin members and companies in the BioRegion key training and information generated by both organizations and, thus, facilitating the development and projection of projects that are of interest to both,” explained the president of Fenin Catalonia, Ramon Roca.

Additionally, president of the Biocat Executive Committee, Manel Balcells, highlighted that "this is the consolidation of a collaboration that has been underway for some time now, to bring together and help medical technology companies grow, putting them in contact with biomedicine and biotechnology, to drive competitiveness in the sector and to promote synergies that benefit all its stakeholders.”

Both organizations hope that this agreement will have a clear impact on the quality of their activities and help in their continued search for innovative excellence in this emerging sector. Some of the actions specified include: indentifying the sector’s needs, in order to predict new services and products, and fostering companies’ internationalization.

With this vision for international expansion, Ramon Roca assures that "this agreement will strengthen the institutional cooperation that Fenin promotes to boost the sector’s position in Spain as one of the world leaders in research of excellence.”
