From September 28 to October 1, Barcelona hosted a new edition of LSI Europe, one of the leading international meeting points for medtech innovation and investment. Organized by Life Science Intelligence (LSI), the conference brought investors, startups, venture capital funds, investment banks, family offices, and major industry players together at the Grand Hyatt Barcelona.
Biocat and Barcelona City Council played a key role in bringing LSI Europe to the city, helping consolidate Barcelona and Catalonia’s position as one of Europe’s leading health innovation ecosystems. The conference provided an international showcase for the BioRegion’s capabilities, connected Catalan companies with global investors, and created new opportunities for collaboration and growth.
Five Catalan Companies Pitch Their Projects to International Investors
One of the highlights for the BioRegion was the Catalonia Track, a dedicated session in which five Catalan companies presented their technologies and business models to international investors.
The participating companies were Neuroelectrics, Innitius, FORESEE MedTech, Flomics Biotech, and Debios Diagnostics. Their projects reflect the strength and diversity of the Catalan ecosystem in areas including neurotechnology, diagnostics, medical technology, and digital health.
The BioRegion was also represented at the conference by other companies, investors, and organizations, including Aortyx, Asabys Partners, Catalonia.health, ELEM Biotech, Grifols, Namarel Ventures, INBRAIN Neuroelectronics, and Nina Capital.
This strong presence helped deepen the connections between Catalonia’s medtech and healthtech ecosystem and the international investment community, while highlighting the BioRegion’s ability to generate projects with global growth and impact potential.
Barcelona as an International Hub for Connections
LSI Europe 2026 began with a welcome reception at the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC), which brought together investors, entrepreneurs, companies, and international life sciences professionals.
The opening session featured Scott Pantel, Founder and CEO of LSI; Josep Ll. Sanfeliu, Managing Partner at Asabys Partners; Antoine Papiernik, Managing Partner and Chairman of Sofinnova Partners; and Anne Osdoit, Partner at Sofinnova Partners–MD Start and CEO of Moon Surgical. Jordi Valls, Fourth Deputy Mayor of Barcelona and Silvia Labé, director of Marketing, Communications and Competitive Intelligence, also took part.
Over four days, the program combined company presentations, one-on-one meetings, panel discussions, and networking sessions exploring the trends transforming the industry, from artificial intelligence and neurotechnology to market access, regulation, and investment strategies.
The conference also featured The Barcelona Health Innovation Lunch, a private event organized by LSI and Stanford Biodesign to connect the health innovation ecosystems of the Bay Area and Barcelona-Catalonia. The session brought together members of the Stanford Biodesign community, Catalan entrepreneurs and clinical innovators, and international investors.
Hosting LSI Europe further strengthens Barcelona and the BioRegion of Catalonia’s position as an international hub for health innovation, entrepreneurship, and investment.
