Expoquimia recognizes R&D&i in sustainable chemicals and biotechnology

Under the framework of Expoquimia (International Chemicals Fair), at which biotechnology represents a significant subsector, the Expoquimia R&D&i Award and the Biotechnology Award will be given out. Each prize, which may be awarded to an individual or group of researchers, is €5,000. The deadline for submitting applications is 15 September.

The aim of these awards is to provide incentives for researchers working in this field to promote industrial applications –which more and more use biotechnology— of their knowledge and breakthroughs in the sectors of materials, raw pharmaceutical and food materials, biopolymers, waste and environmental treatment, among others, and must help improve quality of life for society as a whole.

Expoquimia R&D&i Award

This award will recognize research successfully completed over the past five years of a sustainable chemical product, specialty, process or technology that has demonstrated efficacy and/or has been launched to market or is in advanced stages of launch.

Biotechnology Award

Recognizing biotechnology-based research successfully completed over the past five years of an original product, process or technology in the field of chemistry and its applications that has demonstrated efficacy and/or has been launched to market or is in advanced stages of launch.

Expoquimia will be held in Barcelona from 14 to 18 November 2011 and encompasses sectors that are highly important to the economy of Catalonia, such as fine chemicals, pharmachemicals, biotechnology, food innovation, etc. In order to encourage companies from the BioRegion of Catalonia to participate in this international showcase, Biocat and Expoquimia offer them the opportunity to participate in a joint stand (“group stand” option) in the Lab&BIO space at an affordable price.
