The CIBER-BBN research center will hold the CIBER-BBN-Business Cartilage Therapy Forum on 28 September in Pamplona (on the eve of and in the city hosting the Biospain 2010 fair), aimed at companies in the fields of regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, cell therapy, biomaterials, prosthetic implants, and, in particular, alternative drugs and/or therapies to prevent or repair cartilage damage.

The CIBER-BBN-Business Forums aim to forge contacts among companies and CIBER research groups that work in the same areas and may have common interests. Each of these forums, which follow a short format, covers a specific topic that is of business and scientific interest. This way, they hope to foster direct contact and networking among researchers and executives from the companies.

The aim is for collaborations to arise that benefit both parties, mainly so that CIBER groups can participate in projects at businesses that need their expertise and experience. However, collaborations in which companies join in on projects being carried out by CIBER groups are also possible. “We believe that collaborations with companies can foster and facilitate the transfer of technology developed in our research groups,” explained Fernando Santos, head of Technology Transfer for the CIBER-BBN.

The forum will have a brief presentation of the topics that each participant is interested in and, afterwards, free time to hold meetings and interviews with participants with common interests or collaboration opportunities.
