A chance to meet the players behind the latest major business success stories; marketplaces where experts from the health, telecommunications and cleantech sectors will explain how and where to invest your money and a competition in which start-ups will use their business plans to woo investors. These are just some of the activities planned for the second edition of HiT Barcelona, to be held on 16 and 17 June as part of the event called the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Week (also known as bizbarcelona), a week dedicated to innovation and entrepreneurship. Over 10,000 people are expected to attend this year’s HiT.

HiT Barcelona was devised to integrate spaces dedicated to knowledge, revolutionary ideas and major business opportunities. Over the course of two days business leaders, investors and entrepreneurs will study the latest trends in innovation and technology, identify new commercial innovations, network with the international community, and manage new endeavors and investments.

This year, HiT will feature the Symposium on Urban Parks and Clusters, in which companies, institutions and policy makers will discuss how cities are creating ecology and innovation initiatives. The start-ups contest, known as the Global Entrepreneurship Competition, will be decided by the Global Judging Committee, comprising 30 of the world’s most important investors—half of whom are high ranking executives from the venture capital world, and the other half, senior managers from leading multinational companies in strategic investment and risk.

Start-ups will compete for a single investment of 116 million euros

The entrepreneurs participating in Hit Barcelona 2010 will be able to present their projects to the world's greatest private investment funds during the Speed Dating Sessions held in the Venture Capital Corner. They will be battling for an unrivaled single investment of 116 million euros. Many of the participating investment funds handle portfolios worth more than 2,000 million dolars in total and tend to invest between 1 million dolars and 8 million dolars per project.

HiT is organized by Fira Barcelona and the city/county government, through its Pla Estratègic Metropolità de Barcelona, in collaboration with various other organizations linked to innovation in Catalonia, including Biocat.

Program:

Date: 16 and 17 June 2010
