Dancing to the rhythm of Safe and Sound, scientists from the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona) –a center that has held the Government of Catalonia Severo Ochoa seal of excellence since 2011 and is located in the Barcelona Science Park– star in a music video aimed at raising funds for their projects and research into cancer, Alzheimer and diabetes.

The video, entitled Scientists at IRB Barcelona dance for cancer, Alzheimer's and diabetes research, is at the core of a micro-fundraising campaign. The initiative is geared towards a broad target audience and aims to explain the scientific challenges and purpose of the IRB in a way that is fun and easy to understand, using non-traditional language and good harmony.

For each click or YouTube view, the IRB receives a donation towards their research, provided by two main sponsors: financial institution Banc Sabadell and pharmaceutical company Sanofi, the funds from the latter going to the center’s diabetes studies. There are also other ways to collaborate, via text message or the IRB Barcelona website.

The video features more than 100 scientists, volunteers, secondary school students from the Crazy About Biomedicine program and IRB Barcelona staff. It also includes children and the elderly, who under the slogan “Medicine of the future begins here” aim to explain the generation gap in research.
