IRB Lleida and IMIM recognized as centers of excellence by Institute of Health Carlos III
Of the 20 institutions in Spain that have received this recognition, 7 are located in Catalonia
The Institute of Health Carlos III (ISCIII) has recognized the Biomedical Research Institute of Lleida (IRB Lleida) and Hospital del Mar Medical Research Institute (IMIM) as Healthcare Research Institutes. This accreditation recognizes the two centers’ scientific excellence and integrates them into the network associated with the National Health System, which will allow them increased contact with other institutions, foster translational research and better disseminate their activity.
Of the 20 centers in Spain that have received this accreditation, 7 are located in Catalonia. The first five to be recognized were the August Pi i Sunyer Biomedical Research Institute (Idibaps), Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (Idibell), Institute Germans Trias i Pujol (IGTP), Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) and Sant Pau Biomedical Research Institute (IIB Sant Pau). Now IRB Lleida and IMIM join this list of excellence, which includes nearly all of the hospital research institutes in Catalonia.
