The 7th CLARA Scientific Forum, organized by Cancéropôle Lyon Auvergne Rhône-Alpes and with the collaboration of Biocat, will take place next 20th and 21th March 2012 in Lyon (France). Biocat involvement in this meeting "seeks to promote collaboration in cancer research between both academic world and industry in the Rhône-Alpes area, the second most important after Paris, and Catalonia," said Carlos Lurigados, Project Director of Biocat Innovation Department.

In France there are seven Cancéropôles. They were created in 2003 under the National Cancer Plan and their task is to strengthen cooperation among the different actors (research centers, hospitals and industry) in regional projects to investigate cancer and thus improve efficiency and accelerate the transfer of innovations to patients. Moreover, the French National Cancer Institute (INCa) is responsible for directing and coordinating the national effort in cancer research.

In the previous edition, the CLARA Forum brought together over 450 professionals (30% from France) including academic staff, clinicians and people working in the oncology industry.

This year’s program is structured over two days: the Innovative Approaches in AntiCancer Monoclonal Antibodies (20th March) and the Inter-Regional AntiCancer Research Forum (21st March). There will be specific sessions on nanotechnology, image and cancer, as well as the Satellite event Nanomedicine&Oncology in Rhône-Alpes Auvergne and Catalonia regions. Biocat participates actively in the organization of this Satellite event which will help Catalan companies and organizations conducting cancer research present their project to the French organizations and the other way round. During the Forum, it is also scheduled the presentation of the BioNanoMed Alliance and the Oncocat Network, the first in the field of nanobiomedicine and the second in oncology. They both have the vision to strengthen the synergies between Catalan groups and research centers, hospitals and companies to create new business opportunities and increase its international visibility. CLARA has twenty industry partners, including pharmaceutical companies such as Cyclopharma, GlaxoSmithKline, Merck Serono, Transgène,  among others.  If you are interested in participating in the Satellite event please contact:
