Open Innovation Forum consolidates role resolving innovation challenges in BioRegion
<p>The fifth edition of the program has come to an end with over 50 meetings held to address the 31 challenges submitted</p>
The Open Innovation Forum, a program that connects companies’ challenges with research groups in the BioRegion, had its final session this December. Over the course of the year, 15 companies and 40 problem-solvers took part in the program, holding 57 meetings to attempt to resolve the 31 challenges submitted.
These challenges submitted by the companies focus on the healthcare and life sciences, food and beverages, chemistry, energy and resources, industrial systems and mobility, seeking to improve a product, service or development process, offer new products, boost quality, help with validation or prototyping, and explore new areas of interest.
The Open Innovation Forum, through its matchmaking platform, aims to connect companies looking to innovate with research centers that can drive this innovation. The program seeks to accelerate the transfer of knowledge and technology to society by connecting the various stakeholders in the innovation system.
This initiative is promoted by Biocat, Bosch i Gimpera Foundation, UAB Research Park, Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), UPF Ventures and CIT-UPC. With collaboration from the European Union and the European Regional Development Fund, and help in identifying companies and challenges from ICMAB (CSIC), Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB), University of Barcelona (UB), University of Girona, Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), Rovira i Virgili University (URV Foundation), Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR), Food Innovation Network and XRES4S.
