Catalan multinational Telstar inaugurated the group’s new corporate headquarters, at the Orbital 40 Science and Technology Park in Terrassa (Barcelona), in an event presided over by President of Catalonia Artur Mas.

With eight production plants, ten engineering services centers, and ten technological excellence centers around the world, Telstar centralizes general management and innovation, talent and knowledge management for the group in their Catalan headquarters. The new facility, with 10,000 square meters of floor space, also houses a production plant to manufacture and assemble highly complex and technologically demanding equipment for the life sciences sector (pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, research laboratories and the medical/hospital sector). The spaciousness and design of the new facility allows the group to assemble vertical equipment measuring up to 20 meters in height. It also houses a technical center, training center and laboratories to develop and optimize lyophilisation processes.

According to sources inside the company, this new headquarters reinforces their commitment to the area and is the culmination of a process to organize and integrate their activity in five business units, allowing them to operate more efficiently and continue strengthening their position as a leader in this sector. The Catalan company is already the leading equipment supplier for the Spanish pharmaceutical industry, one of the top five international manufacturers of biosafety cabinets, with 15% of the global market, and one of the top three manufacturers of laboratory lyophilisation equipment.

Currently more than 80% of their turnover is generated outside of Spain. In 2011 they expect to reach a total turnover of more than €130 millions, 3% of which will be invested in R&D&i. The group employs 850 workers.
