Medicine is changing, as is the role of patients, professionals and institutions with regard to healthcare. We are facing a conceptual shift, leaving behind the paternalistic model of doctor/patient relationships and moving towards a collaborative model, in which patients, professionals and healthcare institutions co-manage health. With this vision, Hospital Sant Joan de Déu is holding an international conference entitled Liquid Hospital, on 11 and 12 June in Barcelona, focusing on medicine, innovation, technology and entrepreneurship.
The conference will feature world-renowned figures in technological innovation from prestigious centers like the Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins, CIMIT, Kaiser Permanente and Cleveland Clinic. These experts will outline what medicine will be like in the future, patients and hospitals in the 21st century, and how to prepare to tackle these new challenges.
During the event, the heads of Sant Joan de Déu will present the most significant projects in the Liquid Hospital initiative, “which aims to use technology geared towards patients and their families to provide services beyond the physical barriers of the hospital building,” explains Jorge Juan Fernández, director of the Department of eHealth and Health 2.0 at this hospital.
Registration (€25 per day, which includes coffee breaks, lunch and a cocktail).
The event will include simultaneous translation.
