Swiss firm TransformRx GmbH, headed by Martin Austin, is working with a multinational medical device company to identify possible candidates —inventors, academic groups and small innovative companies— for grants to develop devices in different therapeutic areas.

The grants, which are for up to €75,000 euros, aim to support and stimulate novel and innovative ideas, research and projects relating to respiratory medicine and acute pain management (but without excluding promising ideas from other fields). The call is open to participants from around the world through the end of May 2011.

The multinational organizing this call for grants for innovative medical devices seeks business opportunities within three years of market launch with the potential for co-development or strategic sales and distribution partnerships on a global or regional level.

Martin Austin has headed international projects in the fields of pharmaceuticals and biotechnology for clients from Switzerland, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Sweden, the United States and Denmark. He is an expert in business development. In 2008, he published a book entitled Business Development for the Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industry (Gower).
