The 11th edition of d·HEALTH Barcelona is now underway. Biocat's program, inspired by Stanford University's Biodesign methodology, kicked off on September 21 and has already completed one of its key phases: clinical immersion. Over two weeks, participants observed clinical practice firsthand to identify real-world needs among healthcare professionals and patients.

The clinical immersion took place at six hospitals in Barcelona and Girona: Hospital del Mar, Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau, Doctor Josep Trueta University Hospital in Girona, Sant Joan de Déu Barcelona Children's Hospital, Bellvitge University Hospital, and Vall d'Hebron University Hospital. The latter joins the program's network of partner hospitals for this edition.

Building on the needs identified, the teams will work through the next phases of the program to assess which opportunities could lead to innovative solutions. d·HEALTH Barcelona offers hands-on experience across the entire innovation process, from clinical observation and needs validation to prototyping and business model development.

From Clinical Immersion to Needs Validation

Following the immersion, participants will focus on screening and validating the needs they have identified. This process will allow them to prioritize the challenges with the greatest potential and gain a deeper understanding of their relevance to healthcare professionals and patients.

Next, the teams will develop a prototype and define a business model for their proposed solutions. The program will culminate in June 2027 with Graduation Week, when participants will present their projects to professionals from the healthcare and innovation ecosystem.

d·HEALTH Barcelona is supported by the Government of Catalonia's Ministry of Health, Cuatrecasas, Tech Barcelona, and Eurecat.
