Biocat is now accepting applications for the 11th edition of d·HEALTH Barcelona, the health innovation and entrepreneurship training program that has become a benchmark initiative in Catalonia for developing talent in the life sciences and healthcare sector. This latest edition will kick off on September 21, 2026, and run through June 2027, with a hybrid format designed to make it easier for working professionals to take part.

Inspired by the Stanford University biodesign methodology, the program takes a practical approach to the full health innovation cycle: from identifying unmet clinical needs through designing a prototype and developing a business model. d·HEALTH Barcelona is for healthcare and life sciences graduates, researchers and professionals, as well as people with design, engineering and business backgrounds, who all work together in multidisciplinary teams for eight months.

One of the program’s most distinctive features is the clinical immersion: a two-week placement in hospitals that allows participants to directly observe clinical practice and identify real needs of both professionals and patients. This immersion will take place in five hospitals in Barcelona and one in Girona. The hospitals that have already confirmed participation are Hospital del Mar, Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau, Doctor Josep Trueta University Hospital Girona, Hospital Sant Joan de Déu Barcelona, Bellvitge University Hospital and Vall d’Hebron University Hospital.

The program is broken into five main phases: an initial kick off week, the clinical immersion, needs filtering and validation, prototype and business model development, and Graduation Week, when teams pitch their projects to professionals from the ecosystem. The training includes live sessions, in person activities and support from more than 30 academic and industry experts.
