The 2015 edition of the Industrial Doctorates Plan is now open. This initiative, which gives PhD students the opportunity to participate in an R&D&i project at a company devoted to research and innovation, and on the cutting-edge of knowledge, is promoted by the Government of Catalonia

The main aim of this initiative is for the industrial doctoral candidate, through an agreement with the university, to receive training that meets the real needs of a company in the sector, helping them solve development and innovation challenges that arise in the current environment. At the same time, the project the student conducts over three years, with a guaranteed fixed salary, will be the focus of their doctoral dissertation.

In the academic arena, the Industrial Doctorates Plan is geared towards research bodies, specifically public and private universities in the university system in Catalonia, as well as other research centers and hospital foundations based in Catalonia.

On the other hand, with regard to the business sector, it is geared towards jointly funded ID projects –companies not included in Government of Catalonia budgets, except for trading companies– and ID projects with specific grants –in addition to the aforementioned, also foundations and non-profit associations, consortia with majority public participation, centers in the TECNIO network with their own legal status and other cases without special interest that may be considered by the selection committee, when duly justified.

The Government of Catalonia will provide economic support for these projects in one of two ways: Industrial Doctorate projects jointly funded by the Government of Catalonia and Industrial Doctorate projects with specific grants. The maximum global amount earmarked for this call is €4.379 millions, and funding will not be granted for more than 3 years in any case, counting from the date of the resolution of the call or the date of notification, if later.

Applications, which may be submitted through 4 December 2015, must be filled out online through the Government of Catalonia Virtual Office (Oficina Virtual de Tràmits - OVT).

See the rules and regulations for the 2015 call.
