Dr. Ramon Maspons has stepped down as director of the Biocat Strategic Projects Unit to join the Government of Catalonia Ministry of Health, driving innovation and heading up the Agency for Health Technology Assessment and Research (CAHTA).

The CAHTA, previously known as the Catalan Agency for Health Information, Assessment and Quality (CAHIAQ), is a public company in the Department of Health and a member of the Catalan Healthcare Service. The CAHTA aims to generate relevant knowledge to help improve the quality, safety and sustainability of the healthcare system. Since 2008, Maspons has also held the position of Scientific Director at the Parc de Salut Foundation, which he will continue to do.

Maspons will continue to collaborate with Biocat, providing guidance on topics related to innovation in the biomedical arena.
