d·HEALTH Barcelona 2026 Graduation Day culminates 10th edition
The six participating teams presented health innovation solutions developed from clinical needs identified at hospitals in Catalonia.

d·HEALTH Barcelona held the traditional Graduation Day for the 10th edition of the program in the Cuatrecasas Auditorium. The event brought together program participants, mentors, investors, healthcare professionals and stakeholders in the health innovation ecosystem.
It brought to a close eight months of training, clinical immersion and project development. Over this time, the teams worked to transform unmet medical needs into proposals with business potential and clinical impact. The participants pitched their solutions to a panel of investors and ecosystem experts, in a format designed to validate the projects and strengthen their potential for further development.
Inspired by the Stanford Biodesign methodology, d·HEALTH Barcelona is a program promoted by Biocat for graduates, researchers and professionals interested in health innovation. The program combines training, hospital immersion and multidisciplinary work to identify real challenges in the healthcare system and turn them into viable solutions.
Six innovative projects
This 10th edition featured six teams that worked on unmet medical needs identified at benchmark hospitals in Catalonia: Hospital Sant Joan de Déu, Hospital Clinic Barcelona, Bellvitge University Hospital, Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau, Dr. Josep Trueta University Hospital and Hospital del Mar. The projects addressed challenges in areas like autism spectrum disorders, preventing hospital-acquired infections, bruxism, adherence to CPAP therapy, respiratory diagnostics and advanced Parkinson's disease.
Contigo
Contigo, developed from work carried out at Hospital Sant Joan de Déu, is a parenting support app-guided by clinical professionals for families with children on the autism spectrum. The tool provides evidence-based guidance for everyday moments to support families between clinical visits and collect structured information for care teams.
PTERA Nanoskin
PTERA Nanoskin, which came from work carried out at Hospital Clinic Barcelona, is a passive antimicrobial film for high-touch hospital surfaces. The solution aims to reduce cross-contamination through nanotextures inspired by nature that hinder bacterial adhesion and colonization without resorting to chemical mechanisms.
SympatiX
SympatiX, developed from work at Bellvitge University Hospital, is a medical device to treat bruxism at home. The solution combines jaw muscle stimulation, auricular neuromodulation and app-guided behavioral retraining to address factors like pain, stress, muscle hyperactivity and teeth grinding.
SomniView
SomniView, developed from experience at Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau, is a universal CPAP platform that monitors and predicts therapy adherence in real time. The proposal enables personalized intervention for patients and enables providers and clinical professionals to intervene proactively to improve the patient experience and treatment continuity.
SherpAIR
SherpAIR, from work carried out at Dr. Josep Trueta University Hospital of Girona, is an AI-based support tool to improve the quality of spirometry tests. The solution supports patients and professionals in performing the test to make it more scalable and reliable, and less operator-dependent, helping expand access to quality respiratory diagnostics.
ParkinCare
ParkinCare, developed from work at Hospital del Mar, is a support app for people with advanced Parkinson's disease who receive infusion pump therapy. The tool collects data from wearable devices and patient-reported information to improve treatment adherence and disease management, while also providing clinical teams with useful information to make better therapeutic decisions.
The event featured Jorge Juan Fernández, director of Innovation at Hospital Clinic Barcelona and the driving force behind the program during his time at Biocat, and concluded with the presentation of diplomas to the participants. The day concluded with a networking session to foster connections among participants and the d·HEALTH Barcelona community.
