The Summer School on Medicines (SSM5), one of the most innovative training programs offered to learn about the whole value chain of drug development and production, is now in its fifth year, with more than 80 participants from 10 countries over its history. This year’s edition will be held from 7 to 12 July at Paul Sabatier University in Toulouse (France), which is one of the organizing bodies together with the Barcelona Science Park (PCB), Biocat, the University of Montreal, Montréal InVivo, Oncopôle and the InnaBioSanté Foundation. SSM5 falls under the framework of the Transbio Sudoe project in which 32 organizations from southwest Europe are participating, including Biocat, the PCB, the UAB Research Park and CataloniaBIO.

The SSM5 is geared towards students in the life sciences (undergraduate, masters, PhD and postdoc), professionals from the biopharmaceutical industry and from regulatory agencies, researchers and scientific journalists.

It offers:

  • Faculty of top-notch experts from the biopharmaceutical industry and research bodies in the United States, Canada, France and Spain.
  • 40 hours of training based on expert presentations, successful case studies and seminars covering the whole drug-development value chain, from idea to market.
  • Visits to companies and research institutes in the Toulouse area, one of the most dynamic in fostering innovation in biomedicine in Europe.
  • Certificate of participation from the PhD School at Paul Sabatier University.
  • Accommodations on a university campus with 32,000 students, 65 laboratories, and 127,600 square meters of space devoted to research.
