A piece of news
The first Interbio Week, from 26 to 30 June, will include science and technology work sessions. The 'call for abstracts' is now open.
For the second consecutive year, Biocat is coordinating Catalan participation in the Interbio European cooperation project —which includes the regions of Bordeaux, Lisbon, Toulouse, Valencia and Catalonia— and is offering more than 50 travel grants to participate in training sessions, events and exchanges among technology platforms and joint research projects.
Since the project was launched at the end of 2009, and according to Biocat Project Director, Nerea Alonso, "a number of synergies have been created that are highly favorable for the scientific community in each region. Interbio has become a way to exchange expertise and a meeting point for the five member regions."
Upcoming events organized under the framework of the Interbio program in 2011 include:
• Frontiers in Protein Research Symposium (Lisbon, 5 to 7 May 2011)
6 Biocat grants available (Deadline: 18 April 2011 - Closed)
• 4th Young Scientist Symposium (Bordeaux, 19 and 20 May 2011)
6 Biocat grants available (Deadline: 28 April 2011)
• 1st Interbio Week (Bordeaux, 26 to 30 June 2011)
10 Biocat grants available (Deadline: 6 June 2011)
Interbio Week will include:
• Summer School on Structural Biology (Lisbon, September)
6 Biocat grants available
• 2nd Interbio Meeting Research to Business (Valencia, 17 and 18 November 2011)
A delegation of nearly 20 organizations will participate, including companies, researchers, technology transfer offices and technology platforms.
Interbio grants are geared towards students, researchers and engineers in the field of biosciences, both in the private and public arenas. Grant applicants must register for each event independently. Grants will be awarded strictly based on order of application, once it has been confirmed that the applicant fits with the theme of the event, and prioritizing the participation of a variety of organizations.
Grants must be applied for in writing to:
