Catalonia’s life sciences and healthcare sector has been one of the most attractive for national and international investors, with €517 million in investment raised in 2025 by startups and scaleups in the BioRegion of Catalonia. Venture capital (VC) remains the main driving force with €327.6 million, with the lowest number of deals in recent years (38), indicating a greater concentration in large-volume rounds.

In 2025, the number of investment firms increased by 40%, rising from 57 to 80. Both domestic (36) and international firms grew, with the latter reaching a record high of 44 firms. A total of 174 investment firms in 2025 backed health startups and scaleups based in Catalonia.
