BIOSPAIN, a leading event in the biotechnology sector, brings together over 2,500 professionals from the fields of health, food sustainability, and innovative technologies to address global challenges. Representatives from more than 1,000 entities across over 35 countries take part in this international forum. The main objective of BIOSPAIN is to foster innovation, investment, collaboration, and the creation of new business opportunities in the sector.

The event, held every two years, is organized by an alliance between public and private institutions, with the support of Biocat, the Government of Catalonia, and the Barcelona City Council, as well as a wide range of sponsors and collaborators from the sector. Among the main sponsors are leading companies in biotechnology and life sciences, highlighting their contribution to strengthening the Catalan ecosystem.

This year, a total of 350 Catalan entities will participate in BIOSPAIN, accounting for more than 30% of the total attendees, with a prominent presence of exhibitors showcasing their advances in biotechnology, healthcare technologies, and sustainable solutions. This event confirms Catalonia's role as a European benchmark in the biotechnology sector, with a quarter of Spain's biotech companies based in the region.

The congress, in addition to its conferences and networking sessions, offers exhibition spaces and one-to-one meetings that facilitate connections between investors, startups, and research institutions, further enhancing Catalonia's leadership on the international stage.

Barcelona, The BioRegion of Catalonia Pavilion

Biocat, with the support of the Government of Catalonia and the Barcelona City Council, will once again lead the Barcelona, The BioRegion of Catalonia Pavilion for the second consecutive year. This flagship space at BIOSPAIN aims to strengthen the visibility and international projection of the most cutting-edge initiatives from Catalonia’s BioRegion.

Conceived as a strategic meeting point within the congress, the pavilion will host 10 Catalan startups from the biotechnology sector. These companies will have the opportunity to showcase their innovative proposals, connect with investors and key international stakeholders, and explore new avenues for collaboration and business development.

Catalyzing 5P Health: Where Are We Regarding Data?

Tuesday, 07/10/2025  3:15 PM - 4:00 PM

Catalyzing 5P Health means unlocking the power of data for predictive, preventive, ersonalized, participatory, and population-based care. At Biospain, this panel will explore where we stand in health data sharing and where we must go. Hospitals hold vast clinical data but face barriers in interoperability and governance. Clusters connect ecosystems, aligning standards and trust across stakeholders. Industry actors bring innovation in pharma, medtech, and platforms, but need secure access to real-world data.

AI factories turn data into intelligence, yet depend on quality, diversity, and transparency. The discussion will highlight the European Health Data Space (EHDS), FAIR principles, and GDPR. We will examine how to balance innovation with privacy, ethics, and public trust. Real-world data, data altruism, and federated systems will be key themes. Join us to learn how data can truly catalyse the future of 5P Health.
