The biomedicine and biotechnology business market is under ever-increasing pressure and companies must strategically redesign their growth and seek out new ways to effectively adapt to the new reality. This reality is characterized by funding difficulties, the need to accelerate time-to-market, and increasingly strict regulations and requirements for marketing products, all under the shadow of low-cost competition from emerging countries.

In this complex scenario, Biocat and Esade have created a highly specialized program (Redesign your Bio company Strategy: How to turn science into business success), geared towards entrepreneurs, start-up managers, CEOs and senior executives who will have the opportunity to discover tools to analyze their company, identify and design long-term goals, and share experiences with other biopharmaceutical, medical technology and biotechnology companies with different realities in a similar environment.

The key objectives of this program are:

  • To provide a global overview of trends and tools for facing changes and emerging strategies for growing business in the biomedicine and biotechnology sector.
  • To look at the key elements to foster high-potential teams, maximizing their capabilities and results at all levels.
  • To share the experience of international entrepreneurs and executive managers in redesigning business strategies in the biopharmaceutical industry.

The program will take place over three days, based on the global vision of international specialists from the sector. The directive team is made up of Academic Director Dr. Jordi Vinaixa, academic director of the ESADE Entrepreneurship Institute and the “From Science to Business” program, and Scientific Director Dr. Marta Príncep, Biocat innovation director.

Biocat and Esade have been working together on a number of training actions for executives since 2009. The most important, however, is this year’s three-day program. One of Biocat’s strategic priorities is to promote and drive training offered in Catalonia in the biotechnology, biomedicine and medical technology sector, focusing on "areas of knowledge that are key to making companies more competitive, overall in the early stages," explains Dr. Marta Príncep.

Esade is currently ranked sixth in the world among business schools by the Wall Street Journal and seventh in executive education by the Financial Times.
